I love it. My dad got the 73dv for his offshore boat and that sold me on the Garmin 7 series. My only complaint with mine is it doesn't hold the depth reading once I'm on plane. But, I was warned about that during the build process that the SV transducers wouldn't hold the bottom readings bc the boat drafts so shallow on plane.

I have a HDS 9 Gen 3. It's not perfect, but so far has performed well for me. I've had 7 Lowrance units over my fishing tenure and generally have had good service. Last time I updated, I did lose my surface temp indication. Had to hunt thru menus for an hour or so until I changed back the setting that restored it. I considered getting a Garmin instead of the HDS 9, but I found some info on the internet about the Garmin down imaging not being accurate compared to Lowrance or HB...may have been a patent issue. Garmin may have resolved now, not sure. HB has come a long way. My buddy uses an ONIX 10 and really likes it. Unfortunately HB quit making the ONIX units. You pays your money, you takes your chances. I'll say this, 9 out of 10 striper guides use one brand of fish finder. The tenth boat has one of each kind!
Raymarine Dragonfly! Absolutely the best unit that I've owned and I can trust it.
You can't catch fish from the couch.
I left lowrance 13 months ago. I too was having issues after updates. The humminbirds i got are more reliable and got a 1159 on closeout from b&b for a great price and is by far my most favorite depth finder ive ever had. To bad they dont make them anymore.
