    Default Any Clarks Hill reports?

Looks like I'm gonna be at Clarks Hill this weekend. Any help on where the Crappie are would definitely be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Chris

If you can find any brushpiles that still have water over them, the crappie are in them. Unfortunately, with the lake almost 9 ft down, most of the piles I usually fish are too shallow.

I have not fished there in a couple of weeks but plan to give it a try this weekend, also. A couple weeks ago, the water was warmer and the fish seemed to be in deeper water. If you could find any deep brush then, you might catch a few. The water has cooled off some with this last front so maybe they have started to move further back in the creeks and shallower. There was very little bait in the back of the creeks a couple weeks ago, also. Clarks Hill is so large, where the fish may be depends a lot on where you are, particularly this time of year with the water temp changing and the bait fish moving. Good luck but leave me a few.

Hope you had good luck with those fish Chris. I'll look for your post.

Cool website SnapHunter. I know you'll put 'em on the fish!

The crappie fishing was horrible on Friday afternoon. Since the water temps were mid 60's, we tried docks in fishing creek and pistol creek with only a few largemouth to show for the effort. On Saturday we went to the other end of the lake looking for stripers and caught 12, 3 cats, and 3 largemouth.

Looks like the stripers saved the day! Maybe not crappie, but atleast you caught fish. Congrats.

A little follow-up to my fishing adventures on the Hill the first part of this week. I really did not fully concentrate on crappie fishing and did more bass fishing than anything else. I did troll and cast a few jigs here and there, though, and caught some crappie a good bit farther back in the creeks than they were a few weeks ago. I caught some around brush in about 10 ft deep or so. I even caught two or three pretty good sized ones on crankbaits while bass fishing. Overall, I had a decent few days with bass, hybrids, a few crappie, and even a good sized gar. One day I caught each of those species on just one crankbait. The fishing is starting to get better or at least easier to me as I have never mastered the art of fishing deep for either bass or crappie. The only thing with them going shallower right now is that the hydrilla is really thick in most areas from about 10 feet deep to shallower. Those carp they are stocking should get fat quickly.
