    Default Need Some Help Here Please.


    Ok had to replace the trailer light plug. When I have the lights on and mash the brakes then the trailer lights go off. If I don't have the lights on and mash the brakes the brake lights stay on. The turn signals and flashers work fine. Thanks for your help.

    Sounds like you don't have a good ground. My uneducated guess, but I'd make sure I had a solid ground.

    What they said, either one or both are right, Try driving around the block to make sure you have a good ground on the ball/trailer, then recheck the wires, a test light will go a long way to find the problem

    forget trying to ground thru hitch like mentioned, make sure you have a solid ground wire from frame of trailer to frame of tow vehicle. Most newer vehicles has the ground incorporated in with wire harness
