Default Free Navionics Trial on your smartphone or ipad

I figured I would share this with you guys. Very cool app! Free 15 day trial then it is only $15 if you want it. I have looked it all over for hours on Lake Wylie from the warmth of my couch. I also added it to a iPad and took it to the lake the other day so I could use my Lowrance for finding fish only. A lot cheaper than a $200 card too.

I use that app on my iPhone and love it! It's the only GPS mapping system I have in my boat.

It's very detailed and accurate. I think I will make a little mount to hold my iPad beside my depth finder.

I bought a magnetic base from West Marine for about $15 that holds my phone on my dash on my truck, it would work well in a boat too!

I have the Navionics App also. Great backup to their chip and your Sonar/GPS.

Tip: You can adjust your smart phone settings to NOT "go to sleep" and then plug in your 12 V charger to use the app just like a GPS display. Won't fade away with non-use and charger keeps batt good.

Thats what I did before I got a chip for Murray. The Lowrance base map for Murray was horrible and almost ran me aground a few times. I don't fish Murray much and am not real familiar with that lake. Other lake base maps have been good, not sure why Murray sucked so bad.

Is the chip any better or is the same thing as the phone app. My base map is no where as good on wylie either. I took over my wifes iPad mini so I have a big screen

Best I can tell chip and App data are consistent/same. With App, you have to download detailed lake data for the lakes you choose. Like GBs worth depending on what size area you select. See how much extra memory your phone has first. With chip, the data is on it. It may need updating from time to time. I typically have not done that though.
