I don't know any that uses braid for trolling or spider rigging but like (trypman1) stated you would need to use a leader because of being able to break the line when it gets hung. Sure don't know of any reason not to use it beside cost and even at that you can order it on ebay from china at a low price.
Most crappie fisherman I know uses 6Ib line on all their reels, I do use braid on my cranking rods.

I tried the braid several years ago and did not like it for these reasons. It seemed to wrap around the pole a lot easier. If you fish where there are stripers they can cause a tangle that is impossible to get out. I went back to 6 lb hi vis on all my rods. Cheap to respool

I like the 6 lb hi vis mono also. Cheap. Easy to use. Easy to see where to put that line back out that you just reeled in. Sometimes I will use 8 lb too. Found a deal on a 8 lb big spool once. Color doesn't seem to hurt catch rates IMO. I respool often and as needed.
I use 6# clear mono on my tightlining and trolling setups. I've used hi-vis and caught many a fish, but I just have confidence in the clear now a days.

I use for 4 or 6 lb mono, usually the clear or camo Mr. Crappie line. I am not a big fan of the high vis, I have used it, but I just believe that the fish can see it unless the water has a hard stain.
Too many tangles for me to use braid. When I get a few rods tangled out comes the scissors to get rid of that problem and get back to fishing. Braid would cost too much for that. With braid I don't think you'd be able to untangle even the small tangles.
Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing.
6-8lb hi vis only way to go for trolling makes it so much easier to keep up with the lines!

One other concern with braid is when you get hung up, if you don't get to the rod fast enough it can break the rod or pull it out of the holder in some cases.
