Default Anyone here ever dye your minnows?

I used to buy the "red minnows" at Dooley's in Lexington and the crappie seemed to like them better then plain ones. I was wondering if anyone has tried to dye their own since I haven't seen the aforementioned ones in quite some time. I wonder if food coloring would work?

Do a google search for minnow dye. I have seen some advertised somewhere just can't remember where. Maybe Jannsnetcraft or some place like that. Had different color's and not supposed to harm minnow.

I've seen the dye made by Vicious and another brand that I can't recall the name of right now but both are a bit pricey so I was looking for some input from anyone that has tried them or tried another method.

I used to work at dooleys and I do not remember them dyeing the minnows. They got them that way from there supplier. What we used to dye was the worms. We would dye them green by adding the dye to the container. Don

I think the reds were called Rosy Reds or Rosies. They are a different type and that is their natural color I believe.
Don, I knew you made sinkers for them, but didn't know you worked there. Must have been a while back. If I worked at a fishing store, I'd never get a paycheck.

Here is the one I was thinking of. They only show 2 color's but I'm sure Spike-it has more.

May be you have to pat your minnow dry with a paper towel and then apply it.

Ray I worked at dooleys for about 2 years. I was working there when Monte's wife was killed in the car accident. I got mad one morning when he was cooking grits and about half way through he just walked out and stood outside talking and I did not how how to cook grits. We had some words and I quit. That's life. Don't miss it as they were not easy to work for know what I mean.
