Temps vary, but I would say 70 and below. Similar to spring, I feel the fish are most active in the 55 to 65 range, but I've caught'em good with water in the 40's. Depths will also vary, as will the fishes position in the water column. I usually focus in the 18 to 26 foot range, and pay close attention to your graph. If they are releasing water from the upper dam, the bite will get tough. If you notice strong current, you will need to move to a different location and possible technique to catch a mess.

Tim, a few of us on Wylie nightstalk all year round. As said, it gets best in the colder weather. Sometimes we go in the day during the months of Dec, Jan, Feb and early March in the 50 foot depths tight lining for crappies on the main channel. The water temps are around 45*. If the wind is right and you don't get to cold you can really load up on some nice slabs. If you google Crappies by degrees you will find it helpful in finding fish during certain times of the year. It is not an exact for all waters but will be helpful.

In the winter time the bait bunches up more and the fish stays with the bait. What I'm saying is thru trial and error of setting up in different locations on different nights looking for that great bite, once you find 'em you will be in fish all winter long.
    Good to know, thank you

Believe me Tim we got the waterproof and wind proof gear also and in January February and March it gets cold down here. This cold is a wet cold and way worse than what you have in Minnesota. I was in Minnesota when it got down to -35 degrees and it does not compare when it gets to zero here. You will see if we have a cold winter. Don
