Not sure of the reason pics from the phone loads sideways but I'll turn them and repost them.
I met Doug (striperking) at a ramp on the Hill yesterday morning after we both had long rides to get to the chosen location to fish for the day. A beautiful morning greeted us to the Hill with temps just right in the air and water and the water had a nice stain to it. As soon as we loaded the boat with Doug's fishing tackle, (the boy need more jigs, 3 gallon bags full just isn't enough to pick from ) we got the boat wet and started putting out our rods. Wasn't long before we had the first fish in the boat with it taking my fire-tiger jig but the bite never was fast for the day. We did catch fish and put 11 keeper fish over 10'' in the well plus caught many smaller fish but the bite was way off. A cold front will do this to the fishing and a clear sky will put them to looking for cover. Seen others fishing the same place without much luck maybe picking one up now and then. Around noon we rolled up our lines and fired up the big motor and went to see if we could find any close by but after looking and not seeing anything that we wanted to fish we decided to load up and go to Russell to see how the bite was there.
Russell wasn't any better than what we had seen on the Hill. We pulled jigs until 5 pm and called it a good day on the lake. We had put some more good fish in the livewell but the total numbers of fish caught on Russell was down from other trip we both had made to the lake. I will say that a lot of people were unloading their boats for the late day bank fishing but with us fishing from daylight we had all the sun and fun we could handle for one day.
I hope we get some rain soon to put some color back in the creeks. The bite isn't over so I hope everyone gets a chance to wet some jigs soon.
Water temps on both lakes were about the same holding at 66 to 68 and the water was clear to lightly stained,.
Some pics of the day, the fist one is to show you that not only your kids won't get off the phone ----- not sure what to do with him
Enjoyed the day on the lake with you Doug, thanks for the laughs. Slid this pic in on you,LOL!
A few catches and a shot of the box.

At first I thought the fishing was so good that you'll laid down to give the fish an even chance.Looks like you had a fun day.

Nice catch and thanks for sharing enjoyed the pictures. You mentioned the after noon bank fishing what is this. Yesterday at secession there was a lot of boats putting in as I was leaving at 4:30. The reason I fished so late was to eat the seafood buffet at the Dutch oven in abbeville. It was okay
You ain't right.LOL Its been awhile since me and stump have hit the water together but whether were catching fish or not we have a great time together.Enjoyed it,lets do it again soon.

Don late afternoon some fish will move up to the banks during the spawn, some males sweeping beds and some females may be laying their eggs. This doesn't have to be right on the bank as it may be in little pockets or in a few feet of water on flats, weed beds or beside anything from a stump to a twig. A good time to be in a kayak or small boat fishing the back waters big heavy boats can't get to

Ronnie and Doug...I know it was a tiring day especially with all the travel time you guys put in. The bite is WAY off from just a few days ago from what I'm hearing. Not sure if the water is getting too clear and the fish are spooking or what. Hopefully it'll turn around and we get back to catching those big females soon. I was hoping for ALOT of rain today and we wound up with nothing. Oh well......
Congrats to you guys on the catch.
