If you have a boat, cheraw is a good place if the water is down. Upstream from the ramp there is a rocky shoal with a good shoot/current on the opposite of the ramp. Also downstream there is a gravel bar with some good flow on the ramp side.
Mid April thru mid May they will be behind Blewett and is probably your best bet.

Do you mean Shad is up at Cheraw now? Water is flowing in Pee Dee river from Blewett to Society Hill, not high though. Maybe due to new agreement during re-licensing?

I don't know where the shad are at now. I'm just saying cheraw can be productive. The new agreement just states that minimum flows need to be 2,400 cfs coming out of Blewett for spawning purposes.

The new agreement does help. In comparison, Catawba below Lake Wylie has no flow, riverbed exposed at many locations.
