I have the H2O Express brand from Academy. I fish in some downpours and they have kept me dry everytime. Plus they was only 200 for the set instead of 5 or 6 hundred. So that's a little more to my liking. But I know a lot of people that have the gortex stuff and they love it so I would say if you have the funds go for it. I just couldn't see spending that much for a rain suit. If a little rain bothers me that bad I just need to stay at home, but I'm a striper fisherman so the worse the weather the more I like it.

frog togg sucks, stay away. I also have the BPS pro qualifier series and no problems. ran about $350. get the reward card when you buy them and you get some spending money for next time.

Roland, I bought a set from Sportsman Guide last year. I really recommend the bib type pants as they protect against water getting between your jacket and pants. I bought their "Gear Guide" brand on sale and I think the whole outfit was around $200. It seems to be a good quality item. If I was going to fish tournaments regardless of weather I might could justify the BPS or Cabelas high dollar items but if it is really bad weather I am not going out. I did want a set that would allow me to be comfortable on the few times I am caught in a deluge. Mine are not insulated, but were made for ice fisherman and they have padded knees which helps keep me dry if I am kneeling on a wet boat carpet. That being said, they are way to warm for anything but winter weather.
Here is a link to a similar model that is insulated. I did not see the ones I have listed.

    take my advice:

I fish in some of the harshest conditions when all others are afraid. downpours, cold rain, offshore fishing with high seas ect ect. Hands down as many recommended here, the Bass Pro qualifier is the way to go. They keep me dry, AND warm. Ive owned a pair for 7-8 years. The bibs have wore out, and all the buttons are corroded from all the saltwater abuse. i have just ordered and waiting for my new HuK bibs to arrive. Cant form an opinion on them, but i have a bunch of friends who are commercial fisherman who have given me good reviews.
Full day 1/2 day or evening Striper/Crappie fishing trips available at a very affordable price for
Lake Norman, Badin, Wateree, High Rock.
Individual maker of the heavy duty "hybrid" A-rig Trolls just like an umbrella rig, Guaranteed to put fish in the boat

I saw Pete launching his boat during Hugo on Norman. He lost the boat but stayed dry as a chip.

I have the 100 mph from BPS, would buy again Seems expensive but worth it to me.I fish mostly in winter and these do a real good job at blocking the cold wind.
