    Default Boat Transom Rebuild

Has anyone done a transom rebuild or had it done on a fiberglass boat? Can you say who did the work and what kind of price. Thanks

I have done the work or helped with several different boats...open v bottom, stern drive and helped a buddy seperate the hulls on a bass boat ,different style boats make it easier or much harder to do the stern drive was the toughest to do...Unless it's a really nice boat many times it is more expensive to pay someone to do it than the boat is worth...

Good news is there are videos on you tube that walk you through it...

I had to rebuild my transom over the summer. I was lucky and didn't have to take the top of the boat off the bottom because on the transom the inside wasn't covered with fiberglass. Rebuilt it and then put an aluminum cap over the top of the transom and down the back. Took me around a week to rebuild it, not sure of the hours but there were many of them involved. If I had to guess a shop would charge 2500 to 3500 to rebuild one? Just a guess but seeing the work in building one it would be my guess.

I did an old Starcraft walk thru windshield 16 footer several years back . it has a cap on the top that I removed along with the end caps after removing the motor . It was not to bad but i was younger then and the boat was all aluminum , so it was a lot of screws and a lot of crawling around . If I ever have to do it again Maybe Stump Hunter will do it for me since he has recent experience
