    Default Hill Striper Report 7-25-15

I haven't fished for stripers in 2mos since I was chasing those kitty kats. I got the itch for stripers and trolled bucktails over timber. I used leadcore and downriggers to present my bucktail around 20ft. It's awesome to see the stripers on the graph coming from the trees and checking out your baits. Caught 21 fish in 2.5hrs.

Nice catch Jay Hawk! Fine eats there too! Nice thing about trolling hardware this time of year is it keeps the boat moving and provides a little breeze! Thanks for post and pix.

Congratulations on a good mess of fish Jay! Got a question, when using the downriggers at 20ft what was your trolling speed? 2mph, 3mph? Thanks and thanks for the report and pic.

Butch, I have been fishing Monticello for the cats. The bite is best from 9 to 12. Bait of choice is shrimp, bream, and herring. I use fillets from the bream and herring. 5/0 hooks for shrimp and 8/0 for bream & herring. Bigger bait catch bigger fish.
