Nice Bluegill, and the smile on his face tells it all.

Good deal. I have a toddler Grandson who will be 3 this month. I have been told by she who must be obeyed that I need to get him a fishing rod. My other 3 GKs are all in high school and I had a picture pointed out to me of one of their 3rd birthday parties and, yep, I gave her a fishing rod.
So, got to check out some kid sized combos.
Congrats on putting your Grandson on some fish. I think it is important on their first trips that they catch something, no matter how big or small. I would have been proud to catch some like he has anytime.

Thanks for all the great feedback ! I agree that the first trip should most definately be a "have fun and Catch'em trip". He did enjoy the experience.
The ponds of my gracious friend are a sure thing for this type outing with kids or young folks who have never fished or had a rough 1st experience. It is also a bring your folding chair and cold drink type outing located 5 mins. from the house so it can be a relaxing & fun 30 min or 2 hour trip based on the kids interest.
Butch, next time you make a trip over near Simpsonville drop me a line and I will pull out the folding chairs and be ready to let some of these nice size Brim stretch your string !
