Welp I just went out to check the plugs and low and behold i found a Huge fuel leak! to the point that if i pumped the primer ball it basically would all leak out just under the cowl. its the connecter that comes from the outside fuel line to the inside fuel line to the carb bowl... I guess thats a good place to start. What are the plugs supposed to look like? I got one off (never seen boat plugs before) and the flag plug just looked like it had a touch of black on one side (barely) it also had a touch of wetness to it but that could have been beause i primed it to attempt to start. It DOES attempt to start so its not seized (partially dodged bullet there) But it is kinda making a strange sound when just turning the key out of the water (just a quick turn not a full attempt at starting) There was no loud noise when the event happened on water, so I doubt major mechanical failure is at hand. I can upload pics/video if anyone is interested in giving their 2 cents on it.

Sounds to me the gas leak is your trouble, no gas = no running motor. Have you fixed the leak and tied it. I had to replace all my gas lines on my Merc from a new gas tank to the carbs.

Can you tighten the nut where it is leaking?

Sounds to me like you may have found your problem. If it were me, I'd put new plugs in it and fix the fuel leak. You could have been getting air in your fuel line causing it to lose prime and in turn not feed the engine enough gas to run at anything but an idle or low RPMs.

And your plugs being wet means they are getting gas. How much gas is the question with your fuel leak. To me, the plug in the picture doesn't look bad, but they are relatively cheap and easy to replace. I replace mine about once a year in my old 2 stroke and when a plug goes bad you can tell it. No power, no smooth idle, ect.

I suspect the power supply has gone, or is going bad. It is a small plastic box with a bunch of wires going into it, it works similar to the computer that controls fuel and air distribution on a car. It may be very diificult to find one being that the motor is so old.
