Default Back to what we do best

After a summer of mostly minnow fishing brush, Tommy and I returned to our roots for some pretty good one pole jigging of shallow wood structure, and grass. The bite wasn't on fire, but it was decent. Some quality fish were in the mix, which made the trips all the better. Rooty Tooty 309 jigs were the baits of choice, with light colors being the best choice, as I was whooped in the afternoon after taking an early lead using a darker colored jig and refusing to change until it was to late to make any kind of come back. If you are wondering, yes, Tommy and I compete against each other every time we are on the water together. We find that it makes us fish harder, and allows us some good fun poking fun with each other.

Looking GOOD! Looking GOOD! we've been killem all summer on jigs, me and my buddy used to be competitive with each other , but now we just fish and talk, could care less. I was that way with my old fishing buddies, but they couldn't take it. I'm still fishing 2 times a week and they just quit.

Great report and pictures as always! Those are some fine looking fish and I'm sure there was plenty of fun had catching them. The element of competition helps me fish harder as well. I don't compete with everyone I fish with but me and my dad normally keep a count. It's a funny thing....some days he wears me out and others I come out on top. In the end, it all comes out in the wash and great times are had by both of us. A lot of the time we are fishing the exact same bait and I reckon the small nuances of our fishing styles prevail on certain days.
Hooking up every chance I get!
