    Default Fried Fish taste test

Did a side by side taste test last night between several fish caught at Greenwood a couple of days ago.
    1. Crappie
    2. White perch
    3. White bass

All were cooked the same - deep fried

    the results - best taste
    1. White perch
    2. White bass
    3. Crappie

I was suprised. anyone else compared the 3 ?

Sounds like you have upside down taste buds LOL...
Have fried all the above at the same time and the family always eats the crappie and I end up having to eat the others. I also prefer crappie over the others.

The secret right now is to let fish sit in a refrig or on ice for at least a day to firm back up like winter time fish before you clean them

    Thumbs up

I'm going to agree Pnman. They all taste good but to me the crappie's texture is mushy or soft . While the perch and white bass have a firmer fuller bodied texture. Which is one reason I very seldom keep crappie.

Beagler, cotton candy is mushy and soft...so is a Krispy Kreme donut....taste, not texture is what he was grading. I'm with Stumphunter, I'll take crappie over all fresh water fish....my favorite saltwater fish is black grouper. That's why God made so many different creatures, we're not all alike when it comes to our taste buds. That's why some people eat **** and large mouth bass.

It's all in the individuals taste. Some people like a little stronger fish taste. Never eaten white perch but white bass are good for garden fertilizer for my taste. Crappie is the best to me because I like the milder flavor.

Lastly over the years I've enjoyed this site and have made many friends. This site was especially helpfull during my wife's sickness and death. But the time has passed forme to move on. I am therefore asking the mods to do it or get slab to dissolve my membership on this site. Therefore allowing my user name to be used by someone else. God bless you all
