Just bought a Lowrance HDS-5X on e-bay at a good price. I couldn't pass it up. Does anybody use one? If so how do you like it? I just hope I didn't make a mistake. Thanks, Mark

Congrats on your buy. Hope to hear good reports about the unit. I have had a few Eagle units from Lowrance and now have my first DS Lowrance unit and I have really enjoyed using it. Did you get Side Scan and Down Scan with it.

Thanks guys can't wait to get it. I believe it's coming with the skimmer transducer. If i don't like it I'm going to order another transducer.

Hey .... Ya want me to field test it for ya before you go to all the trouble of mounting it on your rig ? Shouldnt take but several months to get a good opinion of it for ya. Congrats on the new toy.

I'll take the follow up test. I can put it on the toon and not even have to change transducers. I'll even post a report on here. How bout dat! You can compare notes with ofishl's report and mine.

You got a good toy to play with Mark. I had recieved a hds7 a couple weeks ago that I also bought off of ebay at what I thought was a good price. The frist time I tried it out I rode around rocky creek and up towards spinners and I found 48 brush piles and put a waypoint on them. Unfortately the next time that I used it it would not come on so I had to send it back and get a replacement unit needlessly to say I lost all my waypoints. I was really impressed with the way the unit worked and at what speed it would show the bottom. Still waiting on replacement unit. Don
