No Master but I have no problem with hooking through the lips going from bottom to top.
Master,
Ok I tried different ways to put a minnow on a hook. My problem is no matter where on the minnows body I have tried to hook, it will fall of pretty easy. Does the Master have a tip for the grasshopper? Any tip to keep that minnow on the hook longer. Grasshopper is grateful. Or should I use a grasshopper for bait.
I know use a chartruese jig.

You aint tryin to shoot docks with live minners are ya? Lol, jk. When i tip my grubs while longlining i hook em through the eyes, when spiderriggin i hook em through the lips, when using em in brush, stickups or any other time with a cork i hook em just below the dorsal fin so they swin naturally. Never had the prob of em coming off unless its in a specks belly.

I agree with younggun except for tight lining, or under a cork I hookem' through the eyes. They just seem to live a lot longer than when I hook them under the dorsal fin. I dont know what hooks you are using, but yours may not have enough of a barb on he to secure the minner. Just a thought....

through the lips from bottom thru the top make him look like he's nibblin on the jig. Always thru the lips but I like naked jigs the most saves money!

I also hook them through the eyes. I used to hook them in the tail but they seem to drown that way and perch get an easy meal. Hooking them through the eyes the perch can't seem to steal them as easily.
With that being said, this time of year I hook them as Stump Hunter said...through the lips... That seems to keep them alive longer in the warm water.
Hooking up every chance I get!
I always hooked thru the bottom jaw in the "V" and out one side of the bait fishes face. When it is fast and furious it didnt matter where I stuck the minner though.

Grasshopper.. For enough tax free money I will ride along with you in your boat and your gas and equipment I will bait your hooks for ya ! But I go from the bottom lip out the top lip and have much success with em staying on. But since most of mine die from getting eat I cant say for sure how long they stay on.
