I would say bait ball, if the fish were feeding the ball wound be broke up.
Looks like a ball of shad on the left may be fish on the right but can't really tell from the photo.

Here's my take....that's one big ball of bait. But if you'll look thru the overlay of numbers into the left bottom corner of the screen you can clearly see a few arches which tells me you do have fish under the bait. The tailing end of the baitball which is the last thing coming into the screen could have been bait busted off from the main pod of bait by fish but you cannot really tell that from your screenshot. Usually when bait is being busted you will see some streaks of solid lines running thru the bait and the pod will be distorted. Also, from my experience, when fish are feeding off bait the bait is in much smaller pods and are scattered all over the area youre fishing. Generally the smaller pods will be shallower in the water column too, and you'll see the lines representing fish under those pods.

Thanks yall, yall answered my questions. I have been marking alot of stuff like this here lately, I think I need to start looking for smaller pods and more arches so maybe the fish will be more aggressive. I am gone start taking a few more pics to try to learn more of what I am looking for. I am try to distinguish what crappie look like on this thing, I used it the whole summer marking fish on brush, but this is a little different than that.
Crappie King, think about dialing down the resolution on your DF that way the fish will show up better in the bait ball. I reset mine for each lake depending on the amount of crap in the water cleaner water higher resolution etc.
Guys any input on what is in this pic would be of great help. The image was taken on a hb 346c di. I fished it with jigs with no luck. I also cut the fish alarm on to see if it would mark them as fish and it did not. The artifact towards the top of the pic is where I turned the boat around to go back over them to get the pic as it was not originally on the screen when I went over this spot. I pick this image up just like shown for about 30 yards. I'm stumped plz help.
Thanks

PUT'UM IN THE BOAT!
Guessing here, the red, yellow, blue above the bright yellow bottom i would think is fish or it could be structure marking solid like the bottom. The strange thing I see is the hole in the bottom (between the yellow) then the shaft in the bottom on the lower screen. Both screen are showing basically the same image. Next time you are in that spot drag a hook around to see if you snag anything. Please let us know what you find.
First off, I'm not sure what's going on with your depth finder not giving you a solid bottom on the 2D screen?!? Looking at the 2D your df had a small "bleep" which left a small gap (no big deal). Looks to me that you passed over a ball of bait near the top of the water column and I'm not sure what's on the bottom. It could be a rocky bottom with trash collected in the rocks or it could be fish. If you started catching fish them you would have known so I'm guessing it's rocks and trash, especially since there are NO arches between the bottom markings and surface of the water column. The down imaging clearly shows the baitball.

I'm guessing that you may be going over some kind of weed beds or something that is soft like mud. The bottom just doesn't look like it should.
