    Default Minnows Maiden Voyage

Well I stooped to a low today, and went crappie fishing, Took the Minnow out on her maiden voyage, Fished a lake I haven't fished in at least 15 years. The good thing about this lake is's a few minutes from my home, Put the boat in about 10 this morning, first thing I notice my transducer wasn't connected, {I must have put the plug in backwards} So I headed to a area where years ago I caught fish, With the transducer not connected I don't know what the water temp was or the depth,

Wasn't long till I found them and proceeded to catch some fish, Not far from where I used to catch them, Caught 40 crappie and 1 Bass LL. They were hitting red and black so I didn't go experimenting to see if any other color would work. All the crappie were about hand sized, Not going to catch any true big ones, What I caught would have made some nice ones for whole frying but I let them all go.

Started to rain and I headed to the truck and was loaded up and leaving 1:45 not a bad few hours.

Here's picture of part of the Lake, and a picture of the first crappie,

I was wanting to get a picture of the Minnow but with the rain, I'll get it next time.

Sounds like you had a fun trip Beagler. Nothing wrong with eating a few off the bone whenever you want to fool with cleaning 'em either. I'm sure that lake needs those crappie thinned out cause it's probably full of 'em that size. Congrats on the catch.Thumbs Up Looking forwards to seeing a picture of "The Minnow" too.

It wouldn't hurt the lake a bit if some were thinned, but the question is do I want to clean and cook them, Lets see let's see open a box throw some breaded filets and fries on a pan throw them in the oven I'm done. Captain D's isn't so bad, For a fish sandwich, Arby's is best, followed by Wendy's. The seafood place in Hartwell is pretty good, Red Lobsters good. But I don't go to the Swamp Guinnie no way.
Did I mention I hate cooking, Rofl

Beagler, if you want some great tasting catfish you need to ride up to Lavonia to Gumlog. They the best I've ever got from a resturant.Thumbs Up

Thanks for the report Beagler. Glad you were able to catch a mess today even if they didn't go home with ya. Can't wait to see pics of the minnow either. Congrats on the catch.

The Swamp Guinnie still open? They use to have some great food, it has been around 25 years since I been there....

Beagler, that is a awesome looking place to fish and with it close to your house that's just great!! Good to hear you did some real fishing and left those trash fish alone. LOL
Thanks for the report and pics.

Sounds like a good day, but I would have had to fry up a couple of fresh fillets. Arby's fish sandwich??? I saw where they had them, but something about that just ain't right.
We use to camp with a camping club at Calhoun Falls and they would always go to the Red Minnow in Elberton. Someone mentioned that. I presume it is still open??

Congrats on catching and releasing some prized crappie, I hope you didn't release that other fish you caught!!
