Default White rod tips for night stalking

Thanks for the info guys...has anyone tried the reflective vinyl material like is used for boat numbers or mail box numbers...if one were to cut a number and glue it around the rod itp, it may stick better than paint and might be easier to see at night...has it been tried????

years ago wed use white adhesive tape which seemed to work good for us. back then nobody would even consider painting a rod tip with white paint. i think id try the adhesive tape before the reflective tape cause it will probably go on a little better and it probably has the same reflective qualities of flat white paint. If you put a piece of tape where you want the paint to end, you get a good sharp edge which looks almost like it was done at the factory and dont look so bad as having that feathery edge where the paint ends. I dont know how wide you can get the adhesive tape in. you may have to put a couple pieces side by side to give you enough to make it easy to see. since reflective tape works best with a light shining directly on it and bouncing the beam back to you, the big angle involved from the back of the rod where you are sittin to the rod tip, you probably aint gonna be able to tell you got reflective tape on it. I might be wrong tho. id try it both ways if i dint wanna paint my tips to see which works the best.

I didn't like the tape as it didn't show up well with light being behind you and the tape not facing that direction. You know how a mailbox reflector will disappear at certain angles? The angle just didn't seem to work.Rango will attest that I used to use the little red lights that are refills for the lighted corks taped to the end of my rods facing back at me.You could damn near fall asleep and still see the bite with them things. But alas they were expensive in the end at $2.50 apiece. They would last about 3 trips each.I now have the painted tips and they work great.

I have had good luck using Liquid Paper on the tips, just brush on and let dry once it dries it will not come off when wet but you can scrape it off if you decide you don't like it. I painted some tips about 4 years age it's still on. It sorta glows when around a light.

I had problems with the tape coming undone after a while and causing the line to wrap around the end. Painted the tips with appliance white paint and love it. Makes a big difference at night and during the day. CK.

Just get him on, then we'll worry about getting him in!
