Finally someone to ask about Hwy 9. So im guessing you out in at hwy 9 boat ramp correct? Our mens group at church always go up once a year to above hwy 9, where the river is shallow enough to wade around in. Its some place where we can camp primitive at, like a State land or something like that. Off of hwy 9 and down a few roads and then a dirt one. Thats really all i know to tell you where it is. If you could give me some more info on this area it would be great. We have also wondered if there is any place near the hwy 9 landing to camp, like out on the lake/ river. We have a 14ft jon boat and if the river is deep enough also a 24ft pontoon. You can pm me of post up in here any info you have on the area. Sorry for the long post put just trying to dig up some info. We mostly catfish the area btw.
Thanks
You can safely take the pontoon up mabey a mile UP from the landing(#9),to just past the small island,to almost where the river forks,,from there on up its dangerous, really need a small flatbottom to go the rest of the way to landsford.Cant help ya out with the camping,I dont think you can camp in the island,,not sure though.
HEY,,WATCH THAT YELLOW ROD
Is it "illegal" to camp on the island? or just not a good place? i know on the right side going up the river is all air port land right? How about down the river? how far until the dam?
Thanks
I think where we camp at is across the river from the Landsford area.
way back when i was young and dumb we used to camp at landsford canal and spend the weekend out in the shoals grabbing catfish from under the rocks. it was a lot of fun, but dont think id do it now.
listen with your eyes---its the only way to beleive what you hear...
