Smile Garmin 1022 vs Ultra 102

I need to get a screen for my livescope. My options are the gps1022 for $1100, or i can step up to the Ultra 102 for $1400... Which one would you go with? Would i see the difference in resolution between the two on lvs 34? Help me decide!! Thanks everyone.

First off the 1022xs is a helm unit. I have a 1042xsv, if you remove your electronics the 10x2 series must have each cable detached. The 10X series has a quick detach cradle. The Helm units are great for big boats with more permanent installs. The screen resolution on the 10X2 series is like original Helix 10 resolution, the Ultras are VHD units, they have more pixels to dedicate to data display.

Thanks for the replies. I ended up with the ultra 102 just because of the better screen resolution. I'm not sure about the touch screen after seeing so many folks love the buttons, but, too late now!!

Touch screen is fine. people complain they hit it on accident and I do as well form time to time but it's a EASY as hitting BACK! You're right back where you started.

Yeah, my 93sv is touch screen and not a problem. My biggest problem is keeping the dang screen clean, not only from fingerprints but water spots & the occasional fish slime.

I'm thinking I need to get rid of the microfiber cloth I've been using & find a soft cotton cloth that doesn't shed fibers or simply smear the "smudges" around on the screen.
