Default F100 getting it back together....

Reassembling the 2000 Yamaha f100 four stroke outboard. All I did was replace the crankshaft main journal bearings and a head gasket that was blown. I bought it from someone who ran the engine for 3 months after a shop rebuilt it. The guy said it overheated and had locked up. I bought it and opened it up to see what she looked like inside. Head gasket was blown and main bearing were toast. Everything else looked fine, kinda!

I still have to watch your video, too much going here even to sit down during the day. Glad to see you back on the engine. I have always enjoyed building Outboards.

Slab I don't think you have a bad plan, those engines are fairly low compression. I think 3500-4000 for test running should be good anyway. In fact most outboards made from the mid 90's on are low compression except Mercury. Mercury runs a bit higher, you can hear the compression when near one running, 2 stroke that is. Not sure if they dropped their love for a little more compression in the 4 strokes. Nobody runs Mercury engines here except Verado engines, they are pretty awesome supercharged and all.
Thanks Slab thanked you for this post
