    So the question still remains for me. Are the Ford bearings the right bearings

    They physically look correct. They just may be wrong size. I should be able to tell more once I get the new ones.

    Near as I can tell, with my little micrometer, and measuring the existing ford bearing, they are too big. I could be wrong, but they are 6.09's and they should be around 6.04mm. dono if I'm reading things right. Measuring them against new bearing will tell me more. Plus I measuring bad worn bearings, heck they coulda started off at 10mm, dono!

    Certainly would explain things, I had this happen to me with a fresh 454. The machine shop gave me .020 under bearings for the crank when it was only ground .010 under. Cooked the Crank, had Great Oil Pressure though.
