Default I reject even the hint of overheating...

I fixed the ac on the jeep, workin' good, but the motor seems to get a little hot. I live in Florida, and I refuse to have a car that even hints at over heating. I want to be cool, and for the jeep to be cool too!

So, here's the story. I had to do the "heater core bypass" thing on the jeep because it leaked. I woulda just replaced the heater core, as I do have a new one here, but because it's in the same housing as the ac evaporator core, I did not want to have to deal with recovering it's Freon. After all, I just got the AC working!!!

So I was stinking, I mean thinking. what if I put that heater core somewhere in the engine compartment and run a fan over it! Hmmmm, auxiliary cooling maybe!

And wouldn't you know it, it worked. The Jeep now does not even get quite to the midpoint on the guage. Love it. Sometimes it just takes redneck ingenuity!

BTW, just in case, I do have a new fan clutch coming for the mechanical fan in case that is actually the problem. But I sure love having a custom Florida Supplemental Cooling System on the Jeep! If/when I do fix the interior heater core, I may just keep this on in place. Me Likey!

Great Idea. Few folks know that it can be an extra water cooler if it runs warm. Yes, if it's in it's normal position for a heater core, yes the passenger compartment gets hotter than hatties, but could get you where you can get it fixed instead of suck on the side of the hyway, or worse...A blown engine due to overheating...

I know it does not get cold there, but maybe if you fix it for real you should put a switch to be able to turn off the extra cooling on cool days. To make sure the engine gets to the correct operating temp. I know nothing about this, just thinking out loud.

Yep, I got this one on a separate switch so I can control it right now. I've actually got it on a relay, and can easily connect it to ignition power so it runs only when the ignition is on. Or I could make it go on when the temp gets warm too, but I think I'll leave it on the switch. More fun that way. we see, I can always change my mind and change it up!

Yay, Shu's back online. Whew, I know it was a rough one, but you have overcome.

Oh, that reference was about Shu getting though all his technical computer and Internet issues, and back online.
