Bud I have this light for testing outboard engine ignition systems. You plug it between the plug and coil and if you have spark not only does it let you see but by the color you can tell if its Hot. Get in a jam I can mail it to you, it's just sitting with no immediate need on my end.

Actually I don't think I have power going to the coil. One of the wires is supposed to be hot, but is it supposed to be hot only with ignition on, or when it's started, or always? dono, I'll investigate more in the morn.

Wifey just helped me out, I got no power going to the coil whatsoever, in any position.

And my obdii reader can't connect. Hmmm, computer?

Respectful question, is the engine "Crank Triggered" or single coil distributor? Crank Triggered the Hall Effect device may be bad, connecting wiring, even oil in the connector can shutdown the fire so your computer will not send the voltage to start with.

Single coil can be grounded too. Grounded in the case, bad turns internally.

Dono, I'll have to look it up. But it does have a crank position sensor, and it does have only one coil.
