Used to use a product call Defender. Came in a gallon jug. Looked like white water. Very thin. Brush on , it would turn black and stop the rust in its tracks. You didn't want to use it if you are going to do any welding on the area

It looks to be like the rust reformer that I used to use by the case up north in the salt. It works but rust still forms underneath it eventually. This oily stuff I'm thinking of using creeps and self heals. I especially like that part.

Every Jeep comes with a self destructive rust species it seems, eh? Good luck. Check the frame too!

I had thought of that. Removing rust, brazing repairs and sprayed in bedliner flooring…

The stuff that my brother introduced me to that he learned about in the Navy is called Ospho. A green liquid with water consistency. Knock of the flake, treat and wait 24 hrs before you paint. Chemically stops the rust process. I treated a 6” jointer that had been outside uncovered down here. Palm sander with 220 and treated it and used it for years with no more orange from the rust ruining the wood. Under $10 the last one I bought which is still in my shop. Amazing stuff.
