I bought a new 96 cherokee, After about 125k miles i was reading here on the web about mods, i like tinkering, so i start by adding 8mm plug wires and new plugs, then a 1 inch throttle body spacer, cold air intake and a new muffler, i forget the muffler but when i was done, it was a rocket and also improved the fuel mileage. guy at work was busting me that that 6 cylinder would be no match for a full size blazer with a 350 V8, one day going to work i get on the expressway coming up the ramp was guess who, my buddy with his blazer, to make the story short when we got to work, no more discussion about his 350 v8, i was gone ....

I still have a 4.0L HO block, head, intake, wiring harness and computer stored in my basement, along with other goodies. Plan to build a stroker motor one day. Enjoy your new adventure.

    Great find Slab.
    Simple to work on.
My wife says the same about me.
    I bought a 2002 4 runner(frame rust free) a couple months ago. 3.4 engine.
Since buying I have put all new fuel injectors in, timing belt with water pump and thermostat, Nitto tires, shocks on rear, etc.
You will have fun with that project.
Just turned over 301,000. Next is to adjust the valves. Takes shims so might take me a couple days on that project to do the math and order correct shim size.
Wife said I was crazy too and said” just go buy a new one” but I like the 3rd Gen runners more than the new ones.
Guess I am crazy. 1) I am off the wall crazy.

Wow, never thought this topic would be so popular. Great feedback guys.

I installed my first "mod". The "headroom maker" 4000. It was an easy mod. Just a little pokey!
