Example C makes no sense to me, and he doesn't explain it at all. Then he calls example D C, which is a bit confusing. A,B, and D I completely understand. My question is how you could get shadows on SI without getting returns, when clearly the target got painted by the sonar, or there wouldn't be any shadows.

I'm just wanting to know if there is a valid reason, like the fish were so close to the XD the return got range-gated off, or otherwise swamped out in the boat wash, obscured by bait, whatever. Anyway, it's just a slide someone made for a lesson and not reality. I'm not going to spend too much time thinking about it. It has become tiresome. Lets go fishing!
