    how do you tell if they are catfish, drum, walleye etc ....

    is the surface lighter because of the bottom

    trying to learn how on earth to detect fish

    The resolution of the Helix 10 and 12 Mega Chirps take most (not all) of the guess work out of it. Thru time on the water you begin to associate body shapes of fish on graph with what your catching. We were catching only catfish on this spot.
    I don't understand the lighter surface question...
