Took a shot of my chart. First time I have seen this. I think I know what it represents but thought I would throw it out to the group.

Looks to me like allot of trash or pollen in the water. I've been having the same issue with my side image and some on down image. Went to a different part of the lake yesterday and my images were back to normal. Was concerned my transducer was going bad. Like yours my 2d image was fine. That's my 2 cents worth. Think it's too early for thermocline.

spring turnover??? leading to thermocline formation.....the fish are certain of good O2 levels....
I think it's likely a algae or phytoplankton bloom, not a turnover or thermocline. I've had my DI unit show similar results at night, in Summer, right around a large halogen dock light.
It can't be a turnover event IMHO ... because "turnover" is cold water above warm water that drops down into the warm water and "mixes" the two (cold water is denser and "heavier" than warm water). With the unit showing 69deg surface water, I just don't see it.
defiantly to early for thermocline.
Agreed not a thermocline with that water temp.
This is a late answer, but my helix was doing the same thing yesterday. Ended up being the sensitivity was to high , unit was getting a second reading, which showed it as the (wrong) depth. This was causing the unit to think the actual depth was fish, just as yours is showing. May not be same problem but try lowering your sensitivities on surface clutter, fish ID , and main sensitivity. Helped mine, just a thought
Were you actually in 24 ft water or in 12ft. ??
