Default Shaft on a maxxum trolling motor

I currently have a minn Kota maxxum 60 inch shaft, I was wondering if anyone on here has ever cut a maxxum shaft down. I知 very mechanical so it wouldn稚 be a problem, I知 just wanting to know if I could cut about 10 inch off it and everything still be ok. Thanks for the help

Yes, take head off and find a thin piece of angle iron or angle aluminum that will slide into shaft. Use this to protect wiring. Cut with hacksaw or a large tubing cutter if you can find one. Just take your time and it won't take but a few minutes. Then you can measure wiring and cut off and crimp on new connectors or stuff wiring down in shaft.
