Default Depth offset for transducer mounted on trolling motor

Since I can't afford to put 2 good units on my boat, I bought a second transducer for my Helix 7 SI/DI/GPS/G2 unit. I have it mounted on the TM and everything's ready to go. Say my 'ducer is going to be about 2 feet under the water. Do I need to set my offset at +2 or -2 to account for the 24 inches of water ABOVE it? If I don't adjust, then I'll think I'm in 8 FOW, but actually be in 10 feet.

Add 2 and see what it reads.

Default Depth offset for transducer mounted on trolling motor

Think you would add 2, the 8 ft reading in 10 ft of water will then show 10. Providing the depth reading was calibrated correctly from factory.

Depth Offset adjusts the digital depth readout + or - ...

Example : Digital depth readout at 8.0ft - adding +2.0 in the Depth Offset Menu adjusts digital depth readout to 10.0ft ...

If the boat is fairly stationary, you can watch the digital depth readout change as you are adjusting the Depth Offset slider ...

So if I'm understanding you correctly, I need to +2 on my Depth Offset if my 'ducer is 24 inches below water line?

Correct ... +2.0 to get actual water depth for your application ...
