Default Finally got on the water...

Albeit only in my pond lol... Trying to figure out all the bells and whistles on the Garmin Striker Plus 5CV. I think I am really gonna like the mapping. Haven't fully gotten used to the ClearVu settings, but I think the traditional sonar is close. Here's a few pics I took with my phone.

This is my pond on the Quickdraw Contours mapping. Green is deepest.

Couple of fish I marked. I was trolling at a decent clip when I saw these. The returns were nice and crisp.

I was barely drifting when I took this one. Is that normal for a return at a much slower speed? Or does it have to do with being much shallower?

Any thoughts on this? I thought a giant shrimp when I first glanced down!

from those shots it looks like that pond has a really soft bottom, like deep muck?

Those big returns would be normal on 2D. Those couple fish are just loafing mid-depth

that bottom shot is probably a tree. The long 2D return of it is from slowly drifting over it so its staying under the transducer longer.

Yes its a soft bottom. Very sandy around here. I have watched quite a few youtube tutorials and understand some better now.

Cool shots on mapping and fish. The bottom picture is tree limbs. Just in case I would get a bunch if cocktail sauce, I looks pretty shrimpie to me...

Got out on some bigger water with more going on. I'm very impressed with this unit but I know the learning curve is still pretty steep.

Nice pics. Quickdraw is a heck of a tool for those of us that primarily fish uncharted lakes, etc. Some of mine don't even show up as water so no shoreline. I am well pleased with the dv and sv and all the things I have discovered fishing--cover and structure. Quite a learning experience. My Garmin 93sv chirp is my first imaging unit to own, and my first Garmin FF. Very pleased. My only other experience with imaging was with friends who had the other two major brands., so I can't really compare one unit to another. I don't look so much for soft targets as I do for hard.
I do try to optimize my unit for the lake that I happen to be on that day. Been frustrated at times, then as I got more confidence with it things seemed to get better. Continued good luck.
