Default Should I take SI or basic depth finder to Canada

I'm headed to Ontario for a fly-in in late May and plan to do some lake trout fishing along with walleye, pike, and bass. I've never taken electronics with me before, but I'm debating on taking an old Eagle b/w depth finder with me or if I should go ahead and take my Helix 7 SI. I have access to a good portable & adjustable transom mounting bracket for whichever one I bring. Any thoughts?

SI will eliminate "dead" water more efficiently than any other Sonar technology ...

If. Your taking a small portable generator with you to charge batteries, make sure you have proper paper work with you on ownership. Last time I took one, they raked me over the coals at the border and charged me 160 bucks tariffs and I raised he## with Ontario and 6 months later got my money back. Check with Ontario for what paperwork you need if you take one.

I took a sidescanner to Canada for the first time last summer and it was definately worth it.

I was surprised at what it showed me.......schools of fish, weeds, boulders, and a lot of featureless bottom lol

It was a Helix 9 Mega, which arent exactly small, but it worked out fine. Even on canoe portages.
