    Default Helix cable connector Trouble?

I was reading on a site where a guy showed a picture of the back clip broken off where the wires plug in the back of the helix model fishfinders. I take my 998 off every time I trailer my boat. Im getting ready to buy a Helix , but this would be a draw back for me. Have any of you Helix owners looked at the back of your unit to see if theres any ware or damage , really would like to know before I buy one.Is it just made of plastic clips

The cable collector does indeed use plastic clips ... The back of the unit is also plastic ...

I have seen that very thread you mention where it shows damage to the recesses where the cable collector clips into the back of the head unit ...

The pix seem to me that possibly the clips were not fully depressed before the cable collector was removed from the unit ...

I fish some lumpy waters at times, I have a Velcro wrap with the cables to the mount to keep it from wailing around - no problems so far!

I'm probably one of the few that wish they would go back to the screw-in cable collectors like some of the older legacy units....LOL

Quick connect anything is potential intermittent connection problems ...

The Velcro strap is cheap & easy - the QD connectors are a product of user suggestions, I'm good with eitehr (still running an 859DI) but I trailer with mine on so they only come off on rare occasion.
