That is an interesting observation, Rickie. Can you expand on that some, please?
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.

I don't have definitive verification from HB ... but I notice (especially in my 1197) that the SI scroll speed increases just a tad when shutting off the 83kHz (selecting 200kHz only) ...

Rickie I have also noticed this with my 899SI units also if I run both the 200 and 83KHZ together it makes my screen and stuff like logs look zig zagged so I just run mine on 200KHz good to know this is not something that I had done wrong.
Be safe and good luck fishing

i run a helix 12 Not mega, gen1 unit, i had previuosly run a 898 and new the screen size was hurting me, since i got the helux12 its like im fishing whole new lakes and i love the images it gives, i do see a verry very slight difference in the crispness from mega to non mega but there is very little, for my money id buy a 12 non mega any day, and i bought mine back when they were 2k, my only regret is buying it to soon i could have saved $600, on a side note i hear alot about dedicated di crystals making a big difference but when i can count individual fish and tree limbs im fine with what i have

I have 2 Helix 10's, one is mega and one is not. No comparison between the two. I would choose a smaller unit with mega vrs a larger unit with chip any day. Used to love my gen1 helix, now the Mega images have it beat by allot.

Dang Ricky it seems when my 998 was new it picked up better. Maybe ive messed with the settinga to much or the updates made it worse.

I generally leave my 2d at 200kHz unless I have a specific use for the wider 83kHz ...

You may or may not see a difference in the SI shutting off the 83kHz 2d frequency ...

My ONIX doesn't seem as noticeable a difference as my 1197 ...
