Buddy just bought a hb gen 2 mega 9. With chirp activated you can actually hear a sound coming from it. Sounds like electricity arcing...i have same unit set up same way and have not had this issue. Wondering if this is common. Only difference between our units is his is aluminum boat mine is fiberglass...

The ticking noise is most often louder out of water ...because the unit can't find bottom and it automatically increases power trying to find bottom ...
