    Default Troubleshoot humminbird

    Helix 5 si gps

si worked fine for the first month. Now when I change the range past 50ft the image doesn't expand. The image shrinks, with black bars on each side. Ever heard of this happening?

Man that is what happens with Lowrance units. First I have heard of this happening with humminbird.

Make sure "Max Depth" under the Sonar tab is set to 10ft deeper than any water you should ever be in ...

SI Range is supposed to "over-ride" the Max Depth setting ... but gremlins happen ...

This is from the 1100 series manual ... :

How deep are you fishing with the SI range at 50ft? Is it deeper than 50?

Now, I'm confused. Doesn't SI range mean how far to the side it scans? Not how deep.

If the Water is deeper than the SI Range setting = water column is all that will be displayed in the SI image ...

Got it. Went out yesterday to a lake that was 40' deep. Everything worked fine. I don't understand why it was acting up. I'm just gonna say it was gremlins and hope it doesn't happen again.
