Default Here's a potentially stupid question

I have a HB 698 that I have never been happy with.... was out in the shop today and decided to mess with it yet again..

Question is, should you be able to adjust the si settings in simulation mode to achieve a clear image..... I can make adjustments all over but cannot get a clear image at all very grainy,,,,

The Simulator is a recording that is hard coded into the unit memory ... But you should be able to adjust the settings to get it clear ...

Press the "Menu" button one time to open the SI Xpress "Menu" ...

Then choose "SI Enhance" to overlay the SI Enhance "Menu" over the SI image ...

    *Turn off Sharpness ...
*Lower Contrast to about 10 ...
*Adjust SI Sensitivity to brighten/darken the SI image ...

I have ran contrast and sensitivity from one end to the other and every where in between..sharpness is off ,its either grainy or washed out, Maybe I am just expecting a better image than this unit is capable of... I will take a pic of the best looking screen and post it... and y'all tell me what ya think.

Is it possible you have the screen brightness turned up too high .... do a quick press of the power button and see if a brightness adjustment helps.

Wouldn't hurt to wash down your transducer, too. Road film, and other films from the lake may be coating the transducer.

Be sure to match Chart speed to boat speed when viewing SI ...

Here is a few pics... again these are of the simulation screen.... I understand all this means little once out on water, but I am trying to eliminate transducer issues as a factor in poor images...

I think the pic with sensitivity turned down looks the best...but have no idea what that will translate to on the lake.... Thanks for any input.Name: 20160911_112155.jpg

Looks like chart speed is set to high. Slower chart speed will help clear up the screen. Like Rickie said match the chart speed to boat speed. This may also be a help.

Midcarolina, some hardware issues, limitations to be aware of. I'm not sure what the pixel rating on the 698 is, that may be part of the graininess. also the "8" denotes you have a HD transducer and not the compact trasnducer, at least check that. I have both types and the HD is much clearer than the compact. Another thing on my SI settings I run my contrast just a click or 2 below the sensitivity number and I also run sharpness on low. The HD ducer will have the temp probe visible on the back end of the ducer, looks like a little silver button.
