Looks like you have the SI enhance turned on .... that will give you a little more grainy image, but make fish show up better.
Thanks for the info.... I think I am on the right track now My problem was I kept doing little tweaks on the sensitivity and contrast and for some reason mine wants a farther adjustment than that... Here is a pic taken on the lake yesterday of my screen, now keep in mind it's a picture of the screen using my smart phone.

The numbers naming convention no longer hold true for XDCR type.
The 698 is the cheapened up version of the 798 - (which did) and does come with the compact SI XDCR.
It is very similar to my old 797c2 (640v x 480h) except an external GPS is not plug and play supported.
The Helix 5 SI GPS was meant to replace that with the 480v x 800h pixel matrix - sort of like turning the display sideways and allowing better SI horizontal resolution.
The SI Enhance sure does help fish "pop out" but does make the images quite grainy.
