Default Question HB SI to DI on Core units

    1. Can someone explain how Humminbird does the SI to DI Wide. From what I have read the "Wide" setting results in ~1.5X water column. Is this total coverage i.e. 20' depth of water would equal 35 ft coverage. Is this 17.5 ft of each side of the xducer or 35 ft each side? Or is this the slant range?

    2. On a dedicated DI Wide xducer with an angle of 75 degrees with 455kHz it states the coverage is ~1.53X depth of water. Is this the same coverage as the SI to DI "Wide" setting.

Hopefully I have explained my question correctly.

We know there is no down pointing piezo in the HB core unit SI xducers ...

We know the DI image in the HB core SI units is therefore computer generated from the data received in the side pointing SI piezoes ...

So there's really no exact way to measure (nor assign) an "angle of coverage" with this computer generated data in the blended DI image ...

Greg explained the DI Width setting in the HB SI units as this ...:

*DI Narrow tells the unit to display only those echoes "common" in the left and right SI (basically echoes in the overlap of the 2 SI pulses under the boat) ...

*DI Wide tells the unit to display all echoes present in the left and right SI ...

*DI Medium is somewhere in between ..

Does image quality improve with the narrower settings?

No.the narrower it's set ,the less will be displayed. With my 998.I try ed the different views (wide, medium and narrow).wide works best for me.medium, always seemed to have a software issue on my unit.
