Thread: Transducer selection

Easy way is to go to full screen SI and hit the menu button once....I'm pretty sure the SI frequency is in that menu......If not, do menu button twice and look in the sonar menu.

P.S. .... I was assuming you already selected the transducer .... it needs to be set to the HDSI transducer, not the compact.....That would be the connected transducer in the sonar tab.

hmmm, why would you not always run the si at 800? much more detail!

The 800khz hardly would show anything in shallow water I would imagine from what I have read. Someone may chime in here but the frequency waves are narrower and more frequent causing a narrower cone angle and over powering the image. But this week im going to be in some deeper water. So that cone angle and brightness may be needed. I have always used the 455khz and gotten awesome screenshots that I never wanted anything more. Until now lol.

455 covers more water when searching. 800 gives more detailed images once something located and you want a better pic (usually).

Exactly .....455 give more coverage area. The 800 Khz beam looses energy faster, but gives more detail when wanting to look at something closely.

Tried the 800khz. I preferred my 455khz over the images I got with the 800khz on THIS lake. I just couldnt get my sensitivity and contrast right. I did get some good images though in the 455! Unfortunately I did not take any photos. I will next time!

Glad to hear you got it working ..... You have it in your arsenal now, and can give it a shot whenever you want better target separation.
