I am considering buying a Helix 5 DI/GPS. Have you been happy with the one you purchased?

No one has answered ya buddy, I do not have one. I have a 899 and 859. But I have reseached them ALOT for my friends. I think you would really like it if your not planning on linking it to anything (trolling motor or another graph). In my opinion its a real good bang for your buck.

50% of the sonar equation is the xducer used ...

The Helix 5 DI GPS comes with the same XNT 9 DI T as the 859 DI, 959 DI, and 1159 DI ...

The humminbird 597hd/di has the ultra setting to.looks to me like they just replaced 10 setting with ultra

I don't think u will have any problem seeing your jig.I could see a 1/16" jig on the humminbird 597,as long as it stayed in the coverage area.it's a lot harder to keep the jig in the coverage area of di than the 2d coverage, but it can be done.

There are ten guys that build the speed controls and the guy that did number 10 was out on a leave of absence. That's what I heard anyway.
