    Default HB 999 & 859 Images

I see 4 to 5 lb fish plain as day but crappie are tougher for me to recognize on either unit. They say the units have 2.5 inch separation capability. Any advice on tweaking settings to make them easier to pick up?

You can help the view in SI by making the width(left/right) about 3x the depth of the water you're in. You can enlarge the screen by having only one side visible to make everything larger and therefore more visible. You can try using contour mode too...this removes the water column and spreads out the bottom view more.

In addition to what vic mentioned ...

You can run the Chart Speed higher than the boat speed to "stretch" the fish echoes out where they can be more easily picked out of the image ...

Just realize "all" echoes (Including the bottom detail) will be stretched the same amount ... So the image may look a little smeared ...

And experiment with the Contrast and Sharpness setting in the DI(SI) Enhance menu ...

Are you happy with the 999? I have an 859 on my bow and am considering buying a 999 for the console. Do you have yours networked together?

Love them; just trying to get better at using them. Yes I have them networked and its a great tool. If you can afford a bigger screen get it but I think you will love it too. For the money, ease of use, one eternet cable networking ability and made in the USA its as good as it gets. In my opinion.
