I keep having this issue where it seems the downscan starts to fill up the screen with clutter. I have turned the anti-clutter setting to high to try and remove it. It doesn't show up like this when I first start fishing. Instead it seems to get worse as I'm using the unit. I switch to sonar-only and it goes away immediately.

Wasabi ... have you tried using the 455/800kHz setting on the DI ?? The 200kHz setting is really more for the 2d sonar, and might be the reason you're getting all the trash signals, even with the clutter setting on high.

I keep my Elite 5DSI set on 800kHz for the greater image clarity, while realizing that my DI sonar spread is about 75% as wide as the depth I'm in. I don't use the 455kHz setting, because it's angle of spread is 150% as wide as the depth ... so it's liable to be reading something well outside the spread of the reach of my rods.

I thought somewhere along the way somebody suggested I use XXX setting for DI mode. But looking at the screenshot I don't recall it being 200khz that was recommended. I will switch to 800khz and see how it is doing.

I thought there were only 2 settings you could use for DI - 455 or 800??? How is mine saying 200?

Might have to do with what transducer you have, or it could be what setting you're using (if you have a choice on your menu). I can't really say, because my unit is DI only (no 2d). Lowrance discontinued my unit in favor of the HDI series (DI+2d). But, personally, I don't miss or regret not having 2d ... seeing as how my DI images are pretty self explanatory, and I don't have to try and interpret what the 2d image is portraying.

It turns put the screenshot I showed you was my sonar vue with downscan overlay turned on. So the 200khz is the sonar setting. I switched to downscan and it showed I was using 800 kHz.

In that case it's the 2d overlay info that's cluttering the screen. Try it with only the DI running, and see if the images are better.

You might try using a different color palette. I tried the yellow/green and it didn't give me the image clarity I wanted :

... so I switched to the blue gradient and started getting much better images :

You also have to take into account that your E4HDI has a pixel count of 480x272, while my E5DSI has a pixel count of 480x480.

Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.
The two loudest sounds are a gun that goes bang when it is supposed to go click and one that goes click when it is supposed to go bang.

The guy said that he tilted the transducer for 45 degree towards the left bank. I do not think that this are rocks, may be just some stones on the bottom:
