Default Elite 7 HDI down image issue.

I have a new(to me) Elite 7 HDI that is having a Down Image problem. The 2D sonar is working well and giving good readings on both 200hz and 83hz. The down imaging, however, is giving very weak returns (bottom is not even distinguishable most of the time), and apparently no return on 800hz (black screen). Have tinkered with ping speeds and background colors to see if it was a display problem, with no improvement. In simulator mode, the display gives a clear sharp picture.

Has any one had this issue before?

Might want to double check to make sure you have the correct transducer selected. To do that, go back through the "installation" menu and when you get to select transducer, make sure you have the 83/200/455/800 selected. Out of the box, mine had a generic unit selected and the 2D worked fine, but the DI did not.Once I get the right TD selected it was a really clean image.

Mountain Fork, I have a Elite 7 HDI and was having the same problem and I had the correct transducer selected. Called Lowrance customer service and was told to try different settings, I did and it didn't help.. I had no way points and decided to do a hard reset(in my yard). Followed the set up procedure and went to the water for try out. Got the best bottom pictures I have gotten since I had the unit. I will try again to make sure it was not a fluke. I have no clue as to why how, or what took place. I just know it performs better. I guess it's like rebooting your computer. ....Good Luck....crappie1133

Thanks SeaRay- I went back and checked and the 455/800 83/200 skimmer was selected.

Crappie1133, Thanks for the info. I have my waypoints backed up, so I'll give the hard reset a shot.
