I know this unit is new wanting to see how it compares to the hb899 especially in the side imaging. I know the garmin is a little more expensive but not by much after the transducer exchange.

I just went through this issue and after really looking hard at this issue I chose to upgrade from HB to Garmin. Take a look at the 93sv because at the suggested retail price of $1199 it is just hard to beat. I think Garmin has dominated the land, air, and salt water market and now is going to push hard into the fresh water market this year.
Yeah that unit looks amazing I think I am just getting over anxious to get a si unit. I'm just gonna have to wait and be patient if I could find that 93 on sale for 50-100 less I'd pull the trigger on it. I that might be awhile tho since it just came out. I just have a hard time letting go of the $ but if I settle for anything less I think I'd always regret it. Shopping for these things is as bad as buying a new truck.
Brownie have you called BBG Marine or Universal Mania and got a quote ?
I was under the impression that garmin has MAP
pricing and dealers can't sell for less I may be wrong but that's what I heard
brownie ,I think they can not advertise any lower price but can sell at a lower than MAP price. I bought my elite 7 hdi and got a better than MAP price from bbg marine, but other dealers will sell lower also. Go to web site and place the unit "in the cart". you can remove if not satisfied. You can save a few bucks doing this..........Good Luck.... crappie1133

Brownie I've been looking at the 73dv and to get hd down vu you have to buy the hd transducer ($389) and a 455/800 khz box xtra ($450). It only goes up to 50/200 khz 77/200beam on the base unit I think. So you'd have to add around $800 to the base unit price to get 455/800 khz si and di.
Be as smart as you can, but it is always better to be wise than to be smart.
