    Brownie,

Why don't you give me a call (no obligation ) ... and I can explain all the details on the Garmin Echomap and GPSMAP series. They are very nice units and we can discuss what features they have that might fit your needs. The 73DV and 93 SV have been very popular units.

I just confirmed with Garmin TS that Echomap series (73sv/dv and 93SV) that come pre-packaged with the down and or side vu transducers (GT40/GT20) will have the following frequencies - 77/200/455/800khz.

CHIRP sonar uses a range of frequencies instead of 1 single frequency like 200khz. The end result is better target separation and more detail on your screen. Fish arches are full and more defined. Fish on the bottom of the lake are easier to identify. Those are some of the advantages. Brian

Sorry for the late reply. Your messages were not received to my email.

Yes, the Garmin Echomap 73sv is a very good unit. I run the Echomap 70DV and the Garmin units have excellent down and side vu imaging and a very simple menu system. You will want to check the mapping (garmin.com) for the lakes you fish to make sure you have good coverage.
